About the NDIS FAQ

What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

If you’re under 65 with a permanent and significant disability, the NDIS can fund the support you need to live your fullest everyday life and achieve your short and long-term goals.

How does NDIS funding work?

NDIS funding is specific to the person applying for it.

To apply for NDIS funds, you’ll need to meet with a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or another registered person and make a plan.

Your NDIS Plan sets out your needs and goals, determining the level of funding you receive. You get to review your plan and adjust it as your needs and goals change.

NOTE: NDIS funding doesn’t pay for everyday living expenses that people without disability need to cover, such: as rent, food, mobile phone or entertainment costs, or health or education services.

However, it can fund the support you need to access a wide range of community services.
